This solution is a combination of the cutting-edge phage recombinant protein technology; and the ease-of-use of the VIDAS® system. Its ultra specificity and sensitivity can increase lab productivity and considerably reduce financial loss often caused by false positive results. Escherichia coli O157:H7 is a recognized cause of hemorrhagic colitis and has been implicated in a number of outbreaks in Japan; the United States; Canada; the United Kingdom and Belgium. The most common source of infection has been raw beef although other foods such as milk; apple cider; and other raw meat products have also been implicated.

The VIDAS® system allows for a flexible work routine with a sectioned architecture (5 sections of 6 tests each), an add-on modular system, more efficient workflow, batch testing (up to 100 tests/2 hr.), single sample testing, random test capability and multi-parametric testing. All VIDAS® assays are single-dose format assays and cost effective. Everything included in one kit and no reagent preparation.
