Inflammation is a biological response triggered by exposure to harmful stimuli such as tissue damage or foreign antigens. This response is initiated by resident immune cells, and then mediated through the actions of various cytokines and chemokines. Abnormalities in inflammation also underlie a large variety of chronic human diseases. Accurate measurement of inflammatory mediators is therefore critical to further our understanding of the role these molecules play in shaping the immune response to injury or infection. The Human Inflammation Panel 1 is a bead-based multiplex assay, using fluorescence–encoded beads suitable for use on various flow cytometers. This panel allows simultaneous quantification of 13 human inflammatory cytokines/chemokines, including IL-1β, IFN-α2, IFN-γ, TNF-α, MCP-1 (CCL2), IL-6, IL-8 (CXCL8), IL-10, IL-12p70, IL-17A, IL-18, IL-23, and IL-33. This assay panel provides higher detection sensitivitiy and broader dynamic range than traditional ELISA methods. The panel has been validated for use on serum and cell culture supernatant samples.
