The hazelnut (Corylus avellana) belongs to a group of foods commonly referred to as “tree nuts”. In recent years there has been a rise of alternative “milk” drinks made from tree nuts, such as hazelnut. As these drinks contain tree nut proteins, they are still a major cause of food allergy for some consumers. With different types of alternative “milk” drink often being produced in the same company, there is a risk of cross-contamination of ingredients. This may lead to their presence not being listed on the ingredients label and the possibility of a product recall. Consequently, there is a need for a sensitive and reliable test for the detection of specific hazelnut drink protein in other products. The ELISA SYSTEMS Hazelnut Drink Residue ELISA uses a specific heat-stable hazelnut protein, which is ideal as an indicator of hazelnut drink.
Please note: A special extraction solution is required for samples containing polyphenols, including dark chocolate, wine, fruit juices, herbs and tannins (product code: ESADDSOL).
