Clone REA327 recognizes the human CD240DCE antigens, multi-pass membrane proteins which are also known as blood group Rhesus (DCE) polypeptides. The Rhesus (Rh) blood group system is the most clinically significant blood group system after ABO. At present, the Rh blood group system consists of 50 defined blood-group antigens, among which the antigens D, C, and E are the most important. The classification of Rh-positive and Rh-negative individuals is determined by the presence or absence of the highly immunogenic CD240D (RhD) protein on the surface of erythrocytes. Besides its role in blood transfusion, the Rh blood group system – specifically, the CD240D antigen – is used to determine the risk of hemolytic disease of the newborn as prevention is the best approach to the management of this condition.
Additional information: Clone REA327 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
